We should
probably first answer the question, "What is mobilization?" If a
country goes to war, there are more people than just the front line
soldiers involved. There must be a clear line of support to assist
those on the battle field. They support the combat troops with whatever
they need. They not only support the troops but enlist others to
help in the cause of support. Mass mobilization takes place. War
posters begin to cover towns and cities. The air waves cry out for
help. Parades and publicity campaigns urge people to get involved.
People are challenged to give up their treasures for the sake of
the war cause. Personal money is placed in special accounts like
war bonds so the cash can be used for the war effort. Organizations
that bolster the morale of soldiers begin to spring up – all in
the effort of helping those men on the front lines. It takes more
people to fill the line of support than to fight on the front line.
Mobilization is the all-out effort to organize and promote the cause
behind the battle lines and it is essential in making the victory
possible.
Let me give you a definition of mission mobilization. Mission mobilization
refers to the process by which believers are awakened and kept moving
and growing until they find their "niche" for strategic involvement
in the task of world evangelization.
What is a campus mobilizer? A campus mobilizer is a college student
who has a passion to see his peers being awakened and kept moving
and growing until they find their "niche" in world evangelization.
A mobilizer accepts personal responsibility for mission promotion
on his/her campus. He usually exhibits the following characteristics:
Needs to be a servant-leader
Desires to see mission-minded students raised up to engage
in world evangelism
May have the gift of encouragement and exhortation
Is "apt to teach" but may be more effective in recruiting
others to teach
Speaks in front of groups without (too much) fear
Has a global heartbeat that stems from a vibrant prayer life
Sees the value of setting personal goals aside to mobilize
others for missions
Is part visionary and part implementer - he sees the potential
and has the wherewithal to complete the task
Would love to work short term or long term on the mission
field! Do you see the need for your peers to be awakened for
the cause of missions? Do you have a burden for your campus?
Then you might be the student we are looking for. SGI is seeking
to identify key campus mobilizers to promote the cause of missions
on their campus and to network with the students and groups
on other campuses that are involved i same process.
